, “The Siddhantic literature is replete with calculations based on a globe model” is quite true. However, such scriptures such as the Siddhanta-siromani & Surya-siddhanta go on to explain that “The armillary sphere is said, by the wise, to be a representation of the celestial sphere, for the purpose of ascertaining the proofs of the positions of the Earth, the stars, and the planets: this is a species of figure, and hence it is deemed by the wise to be an object of mathematical calculation” S-Siromani, Gola-dhyaya, 1.5. Sri Bhaskaracarya is saying here the globe Earth is simply a mathematical construct for astronomy, and, as it turns out, also conforms to flight paths around our realm of Bharat-varsa based on celestial navigation which also uses a mathematical model based upon the sphere of heavenly orbits in relation to a single location which creates a sphere for calculating distances to other locations .
