Sisupala got Swayuja mukti by Insulting Sri Krsna ,even though impersonalists achieve it rarely.

“One who knows the real feature of Śrī Kṛṣṇa and His three different energies cannot remain ignorant about Him.
The Supreme Whole is compared to the sun, which also exists in four features, namely the personality of the sun-god, the glare of his glowing sphere, the sun rays inside the sun planet, and the sun’s reflections in many other objects. So there is the personality of god and his parts the living entities, whom he is the father of all or the supreme supersoul and the glories of the supreme father is compared to his effulgence the bhramajyoti. The impersonalists are opposed to the supreme father and deny his existence, they want to usurp his position and become god themselves, by merging into his body or effulgence . They say we are all gods energy and no one person has the right to claim that position , even god lol who is really just under illusion till he realizes he is one with the light (facepalm while shaking head!) . In order to deny god they strip him of all qualities and say that everything personal is false or simply a product of duality. They oppose service to god and instead demand service, or a small fee payable by visa or cash in return for the right to become one with god, or god like them, thus there racket is exposed. If we scratch under the surface we see actually they are envious of god and by diminishing his position they can assume his.
Sometimes we see someone who is nice externally is very hard hearted and only displays pleasant manners and acts friendly in order to exploit others for there own purpose or worship. Thus they only believe being personal is a means to an end, actually they are in reality stone hearted impersonalists, who are filled with the void of there own selfish oneness.Because they are opposed to the personality of Godhead and do not recognise his position, even if they merge into the light through performing extreme negation or renunciation they fall back down again and take birth as a tree, where they can continue there austerities. Quite oft our wellwisher is one who criticizes us and admonishes us for our foolish nonsense. In order to wake us up to the truth , such wellwishers seem harsh externally but are very soft and sweet natured in their hearts .
Sisupala was envious of Lord Krsna from birth due to his previous births as a demon, so in this life he was also envious of lord Krsna and would insult him at every opportunity . He claimed Krsna has no qualities which is true krsna is Transcendental so he has no material qualities, janma karma ca me divyam .... One who knows the transcendental nature of Krsnas appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna. Bg 4.9 . Sisupala said Krsna acts whimsically and follows no religous duties , this was also true Krsna is god he performs everything by his unlimited potencies meanwhile he simply enjoys loving pastimes with his devotees as a simple cowherd boy . Thus he is known as Gopala the protector of the cows, gopala also means the protector of the earth and the vedas .
So sisupala was an envious demon who could not stand god, thus his life was dedicated to his own enjoyment and the association of other demons who made business arrangements with each other simply to serve themselves. Yet they were like a pack of hungry wolves who would turn on each other at any moment to satisfy there insatiable hunger for wealth and power, only in order to satisfy there ever increasing lust. Sisupalas followers scattered like the wind when they realized he was out of his depth and clearly had picked the wrong fight. This was just like the demons wives who fear nothing except the sudarsana cakra of the lord, having miscarriages upon seeing it in the subterranean planets.Similarly the demons also dropped there weapons and fled when they saw the sudarsana chakra of the lord destroy the pride of Sisupala . This all transpired at the Rajasuya Sacrifice of Maharaja Yuddhistira who previously was emperor of not only Bhararta varsha our known world but the whole of Jambhudvip. Jambhudvipa is the whole area surrounding Mt Sumeru,Jambhudvip is 800000 miles in diameter. It is surrounded by a saltwater ocean, like a moat it is 1million yojans or 8million miles in circumference at the outer perimeter !
"Maharaja Pariksit then conquered all parts of the earthly planet -- Bhadrasva, Ketumala, Bharata, the northern Kuru, Kimpurusa, etc. -- and exacted tributes from their respective rulers."
PURPORT
Bhadrasva: It is a tract of land near Meru Parvata, and it extends from Gandha-madana Parvata to the saltwater ocean. There is a description of this varsa in the Mahabharata (Bhisma-parva 7.14-18). The description was narrated by Sanjaya to Dhrtarastra.
Maharaja Yudhisthira also conquered this varsa, and thus the province was included within the jurisdiction of his empire. Maharaja Pariksit was formerly declared to be the emperor of all lands ruled by his grandfather, but still he had to establish his supremacy while he was out of his capital to exact tribute from such states.
Ketumala: This earth planet is divided into seven dvipas by seven oceans, and the central dvipa, called Jambudvipa, is divided into nine varsas, or parts, by eight huge mountains. Bharata-varsa is one of the above-mentioned nine varsas, and Ketumala is also described as one of the above varsas. It is said that in Ketumala varsa, women are the most beautiful. This varsa was conquered by Arjuna also. A description of this part of the world is available in the Mahabharata (Sabha 28.6).
It is said that this part of the world is situated on the western side of the Meru Parvata, and inhabitants of this province used to live up to ten thousand years (Bhisma-parva 6.31). Human beings living in this part of the globe are of golden color, and the women resemble the angels of heaven. The inhabitants are free from all kinds of diseases and grief.
Bharata-varsa: This part of the world is also one of the nine varsas of the Jambudvipa. A description of Bharata-varsa is given in the Mahabharata (Bhisma-parva, Chapters 9 and 10).
In the center of Jambudvipa is Ilavrta-varsa, and south of Ilavrta-varsa is Hari-varsa. The description of these varsas is given in the Mahabharata (Sabha-parva 28.7-8) as follows:
nagarams ca vanams caiva
nadis ca vimalodakah
purusan deva-kalpams ca
naris ca priya-darsanah
adrsta-purvan subhagan
sa dadarsa dhananjayah
sadanani ca subhrani
naris capsarasam nibhah
It is mentioned here that the women in both these varsas are beautiful, and some of them are equal to the Apsaras, or heavenly women.
Uttarakuru: According to Vedic geography the northernmost portion of Jambudvipa is called Uttarakuru-varsa. It is surrounded by the saltwater ocean from three sides and divided by Srngavan Mountain from the Hiranmaya-varsa.
Kimpurusa-varsa: It is stated to be situated north of the great Himalaya Mountain, which is eighty thousand miles in length and height and which covers sixteen thousand miles in width. These parts of the world were also conquered by Arjuna (Sabha 28.1-2). The Kimpurusas are descendants of a daughter of Daksa. When Maharaja Yudhisthira performed a horse sacrifice yajna, the inhabitants of these countries were also present to take part in the festival, and they paid tributes to the Emperor. This part of the world is called Kimpurusa-varsa, or sometimes the Himalayan provinces (Himavan). It is said that Sukadeva Gosvami was born in these Himalayan provinces and that he came to Bharata-varsa after crossing the Himalayan countries.
In other words, Maharaja Pariksit conquered all the world. He conquered all the continents adjoining all the seas and oceans in all directions, namely the eastern, western, northern and southern parts of the world."
So Maharaja Yuddistira had conquered the whole of Jambhudvipa and even further he had conquered this whole earth planet . He was performing the Rajasuya sacrifice and all the Distinguished guests from the Three worlds had arrived to take part. There was many earthly kings and celestial sages prominent amongst them was Vedavyasa, Gautama ,Asita ,Vasistha,Vishvamrita, Parasurama, Kasyapa. Also demigods such as lord Bhrama and Lord Siva, Varuna, Indra and many other planetary rulers; the Siddhas and Gandharvas with their entourage; the Vidyādharas; great serpents; sages; Yakṣas; Rākṣasas; celestial birds; Kinnaras; Cāraṇas; and earthly kings — all were invited, and indeed they all came from every direction to the Rājasūya sacrifice of King Yudhiṣṭhira, the son of Pāṇḍu. They were not in the least astonished to see the opulence of the sacrifice, since it was quite appropriate for a devotee of Lord Kṛṣṇa.
Previously Sisupala had been born with three eyes and four arms . When he was born a heavenly voice proclaimed that his extra eye and arms will leave him when someone seats him on their lap and that person would also be responsible for Sisupala’s end.Once when Krsna visited his aunt Satyavathi, Sisupala was an infant.Krsna took the baby from the cradle and sat down with the baby on his lap. At that moment the extra eye and arms left the body of Sisupala. Krsna was surprised. Sathyavathi told him about the heavenly voice which had said that Sisupala would die one day in the hands of the person who held him in his lap.Krsna responded "O aunt, even when he will deserve to be slain, I will pardon a hundred offences of his. Grieve thou not."
Pretty soon Sisupala became a powerful king and was a strong ally of Jarasandha.Pandav prince Yuddhistar was made the king of Indraprasta and Prince Dhuryodhana was the crowned prince of Hastinapur.Dantavakra too was born with protruding and jagged teeth . Dantavakra literally means "crooked teeth". His mother Pruthudevi , sister of Krishna’s father Vasudeva too was aghast at his ugliness but was hopeful that his deformity would be rectified in due course. Both Sisupal and Dantavakra grew up together.Sisupalas father Damghosh was the king of Chedi and Dantavakra's father Vriddhasaman was the king of Karusha. Both were under the sovereignty of Jarasandh, emperor of Magadha.Sisupala and Dantavakra grew up under Jarasandh's tutelage.Jarasandh's attempt to subjugate all around him had been thwarted by Krsna and hence he hated Krsna. This hatred was naturally shared by Sisupala and Dantavakra .After Bhima killed Jarasandha, Yudhisthira organised a famous rajasuya yajana. He invited many kings and princes. Sisupala too was invited.
As the sacrifice proceeded, the ritual of “first worship” had to be performed, and the members of the assembly were called upon to decide who would receive this honor. Sahadeva spoke up: “Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Lord, is indeed the most exalted person, for He Himself comprises all the deities worshiped by Vedic sacrifice. In His role as the Supersoul in the heart, He arranges for everyone in the universe to engage in his particular kind of work, and by His mercy alone human beings can perform various kinds of pious activities and receive the resultant benefits. One who worships Him worships all living entities. Surely Lord Kṛṣṇa should be worshiped first.”
Nearly everyone in the assembly agreed with Sahadeva’s proposal and loudly congratulated him. Thus King Yudhiṣṭhira happily worshiped Lord Kṛṣṇa. After bathing His feet, the King took the wash water and sprinkled it on his head, and his wives, younger brothers, ministers and relatives also sprinkled that water on their heads. Then everyone shouted, “All victory, all victory!” and bowed down to Lord Kṛṣṇa as flowers rained down from above.
Śiśupāla, however, could not tolerate this worship and glorification of Śrī Kṛṣṇa. He stood up from his seat and harshly rebuked the wise elders for choosing Kṛṣṇa to be worshiped first. “After all” he said, “this Kṛṣṇa is outside the system of Vedic social and spiritual orders and the society of respectable families. He follows no principles of religion and has no good qualities.”
Even as Śiśupāla continued to blaspheme Him in this way, Lord Kṛṣṇa remained silent. But many members of the assembly covered their ears and quickly left the hall, while the Pāṇḍava brothers raised their weapons and prepared to kill Śiśupāla. Lord Kṛṣṇa stopped them from attacking, however, and instead used His Sudarśana disc to decapitate the offender. At that moment an effulgent spark of light rose out of Śiśupāla’s dead body and entered the transcendental body of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Having lived through three births as the enemy of the Lord, Śiśupāla now attained the liberation of sāyujya, merging into Him, by dint of his constant meditation on Him.
SB 7.1.16 — Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira inquired: It is very wonderful that the demon Śiśupāla merged into the body of the Supreme Personality of Godhead even though extremely envious. This sāyujya-mukti is impossible to attain even for great transcendentalists. How then did the enemy of the Lord attain it?
SB 7.1.17 — O great sage, we are all eager to know the cause for this mercy of the Lord. I have heard that formerly a king named Vena blasphemed the Supreme Personality of Godhead and that all the brāhmaṇas consequently obliged him to go to hell. Śiśupāla should also have been sent to hell. How then did he merge into the Lord’s existence?
SB 7.1.23 — The great sage Śrī Nāradajī said: O King, blasphemy and praise, chastisement and respect, are experienced because of ignorance. The body of the conditioned soul is planned by the Lord for suffering in the material world through the agency of the external energy.
SB 7.1.24 — My dear King, the conditioned soul, being in the bodily conception of life, considers his body to be his self and considers everything in relationship with the body to be his. Because he has this wrong conception of life, he is subjected to dualities like praise and chastisement.
SB 7.1.25 — Because of the bodily conception of life, the conditioned soul thinks that when the body is annihilated the living being is annihilated. Lord Viṣṇu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is the supreme controller, the Supersoul of all living entities. Because He has no material body, He has no false conception of “I and mine.” It is therefore incorrect to think that He feels pleasure or pain when blasphemed or offered prayers. This is impossible for Him. Thus He has no enemy and no friend. When He chastises the demons it is for their good, and when He accepts the prayers of the devotees it is for their good. He is affected neither by prayers nor by blasphemy.
SB 7.1.26 — Therefore by enmity or by devotional service, by fear, by affection or by lusty desire — by all of these or any one of them — if a conditioned soul somehow or other concentrates his mind upon the Lord, the result is the same, for the Lord, because of His blissful position, is never affected by enmity or friendship.
SB 7.1.27 — Nārada Muni continued: By devotional service one cannot achieve such intense absorption in thought of the Supreme Personality of Godhead as one can through enmity toward Him. That is my opinion.
SB 7.1.28-29 — A grassworm confined in a hole of a wall by a bee always thinks of the bee in fear and enmity and later becomes a bee simply because of such remembrance. Similarly, if the conditioned souls somehow or other think of Kṛṣṇa, who is sac-cid-ānanda-vigraha, they will become free from their sins. Whether thinking of Him as their worshipable Lord or an enemy, because of constantly thinking of Him they will regain their spiritual bodies.
SB 7.1.30 — Many, many persons have attained liberation simply by thinking of Kṛṣṇa with great attention and giving up sinful activities. This great attention may be due to lusty desires, inimical feelings, fear, affection or devotional service. I shall now explain how one receives Kṛṣṇa’s mercy simply by concentrating one’s mind upon Him.
SB 7.1.31 — My dear King Yudhiṣṭhira, the gopīs by their lusty desires, Kaṁsa by his fear, Śiśupāla and other kings by envy, the Yadus by their familial relationship with Kṛṣṇa, you Pāṇḍavas by your great affection for Kṛṣṇa, and we, the general devotees, by our devotional service, have obtained the mercy of Kṛṣṇa.
SB 7.1.32 — Somehow or other, one must consider the form of Kṛṣṇa very seriously. Then, by one of the five different processes mentioned above, one can return home, back to Godhead. Atheists like King Vena, however, being unable to think of Kṛṣṇa’s form in any of these five ways, cannot attain salvation. Therefore, one must somehow think of Kṛṣṇa, whether in a friendly way or inimically.
