Srila Rupa Goswami Surrenders to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu at Prayag
Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu met Srila Rupa Goswami at Prayag and instructed him in devotional service at the Trivedi Confluence of Gangadevi, Saraswati and Yamunadevi. Sri Gangadevi is purifying our body of all sins , Sri Saraswati devi our mind and intelligence , and Sri Yamunadevi our heart . Thus when Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu instructed Srila Rupa Goswami in the science of devotional service at the holy spot of Prayag- Trivedi the confluence of these most auspicious and holy rivers it indicated that in order to fully imbibe the teachings of the lord, one must be pure in body, mind and heart by taking bath in these currents of bhakti .
As Srila Rupa Goswami was a nitya parikar of the lord he was already completely surrendered in mind, body and heart to the lord. Nevertheless he perfectly showed the process of complete surrender in body, word and heart by approaching Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and prostrating himself like a rod on the ground with a clump of straw inbetween his teeth . Even though he came from a learned brahmana family and use to regularly give discourses on the science of bhakti from sastra previously, he considered himself a fool before the lord and took instruction from him.
Thus he became expert in the essence of the highest mellows of devotional service by hearing the science Lord Sri Caitanya and Sri Ramananda Raya had discussed previously in Ramananda Raya Samvad . Taking instructions from Lord Sri Caitanya as his life and soul he reluctantly departed for Sri Vrindavan leaving the lords physical presence but carrying him in his heart until he would meet him again at Sri Jagannatha Pouri Dham .

Sri Gangadevi has directly washed the feet of the lord thus by the touch of the lords beautiful lotus feet Sri Gangamata has become the most auspicious of holy rivers purifying the three worlds . If a practicing devotee or even a non devotee of the lord comes into contact with a place that has been in contact with the lotus feet of the lord they immediately become free from all sinful reactions .This is due to being connected with the pastime place of the lord that has become sanctified by his lila wherein his wonderful lotus feet have sanctified that pastime place. Sin means to separate from, so coming into contact with the lord vis his pastime places or holy rivers reconnects the wayward soul with the lord again and frees one from all sin .
Sri Saraswati devi is a flow of devotional knowledge so the scriptures which explain the divine service of the lord is real knowledge. Thus when we bath in the Sastra by hearing the science of devotional knowledge we are taking bath in the Saraswati .
Sri Yamunadevi is the current of loving bhakti , because the topmost relishable sweetest loving pastimes of the lord are performed with Sri Yamunadevi in Sri Vrindavan. By hearing and relishing the loving pastimes of the wonderful devotees of Vrajadham with the Lord of our heart, then our heart becomes immersed in the current of bhakti ,Sri Yamunadevi, thus real love for Sri Krsna is established in the heart .
