Welcome to Vedic Cosmos As-it-is
Don't be shy if there is any Queries I will do my best to give you an answer with vedic references to show facts based on the vedas and any opinions I give will be duly noted as such, nevertheless any speculation will still be an opinion with reference to a vedic text . Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī said:
śruti-smṛti-purāṇādi-pañcarātra-vidhiṁ vinā
aikāntikī harer bhaktir utpātāyaiva kalpate
(Brs. 1.2.101)
"Devotional service performed without reference to the Vedas, Purāṇas, Pañcarātras, etc., must be considered sentimentalism, and it causes nothing but disturbance to society."
As the vedas give concepts that might seem fantastic or unbelievable by today's modern standards, we simply request all forum members to have an open mind and realize that some ideas may be outside of what we can conceive of, so it helps to keep an open mind and ask questions if you find some ideas challenging . In this day and age many mystical sciences have been forgotten due to a diminished ability to perform the necessary purification rituals and practices that may have been necessary to obtain them in previous ages . The sastras or vedic scriptures tell us that the current age is the kaliyuga which is known as the age of hypocrisy and quarrel , I am sure if you have watched the news lately you would agree that the symptoms of kali are present nowadays .
SB 12.2.1 — Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Then, O King, religion, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, duration of life, physical strength and memory will all diminish day by day because of the powerful influence of the Age of Kali.
SB 12.2.2 — In Kali-yuga, wealth alone will be considered the sign of a man’s good birth, proper behavior and fine qualities. And law and justice will be applied only on the basis of one’s power.
SB 5.16.4 — The great ṛṣi Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: My dear King, there is no limit to the expansion of the Supreme Personality of Godhead’s material energy. This material world is a transformation of the material qualities [sattva-guṇa, rajo-guṇa and tamo-guṇa], yet no one could possibly explain it perfectly, even in a lifetime as long as that of Brahmā. No one in the material world is perfect, and an imperfect person could not describe this material universe accurately, even after continued speculation. O King, I shall nevertheless try to explain to you the principal regions, such as Bhūloka, with their names, forms, measurements and various symptoms.
SB 5.16.5 — The planetary system known as Bhū-maṇḍala resembles a lotus flower, and its seven islands resemble the whorl of that flower. The length and breadth of the island known as Jambūdvīpa, which is situated in the middle of the whorl, are one million yojanas [eight million miles]. Jambūdvīpa is round like the leaf of a lotus flower.
The vedas describe that this earth plane is 4 billion miles wide and that the inhabited area within the loka loka mountain regions is 2 billion miles in diameter. Within this area the area we know as the modern world is called Bharata- varsha after a famous vedic king who ruled this area many thousands of years ago . We are presenting this knowledge as an explanation of what is beyond the borders of the known plane of earth we live on. I will be making many presentations on the philosphy and teachings of the vedic sciences which by hearing we can awaken our dormant eternal spiritual nature. This process encourages us to fully blossom and realize our divine nature as servants of god . Thank you for taking the time to join the forum and I look forward to discussing the vedic cosmos as it is described in the 5th canto of Srimad Bhagavatam . Remember the small spinning globe is as fake as nasa is lol.
SB 5.16.7 — Amidst these divisions, or varṣas, is the varṣa named Ilāvṛta, which is situated in the middle of the whorl of the lotus. Within Ilāvṛta-varṣa is Sumeru Mountain, which is made of gold. Sumeru Mountain is like the pericarp of the lotuslike Bhū-maṇḍala planetary system. The mountain’s height is the same as the width of Jambūdvīpa — or, in other words, 100,000 yojanas [800,000 miles]. Of that, 16,000 yojanas [128,000 miles] are within the earth, and therefore the mountain’s height above the earth is 84,000 yojanas [672,000 miles]. The mountain’s width is 32,000 yojanas [256,000 miles] at its summit and 16,000 yojanas at its base.
SB 5.16.9 — Similarly, south of Ilāvṛta-varṣa and extending from east to west are three great mountains named (from north to south) Niṣadha, Hemakūṭa and Himālaya. Each of them is 10,000 yojanas [80,000 miles] high. They mark the boundaries of the three varṣas named Hari-varṣa, Kimpuruṣa-varṣa and Bhārata-varṣa [India and continents of the known world, surrounded by the ocean of salt water in the bow like section see diagram (not to scale) below].
SB 5.20.38 — Learned scholars who are free from mistakes, illusions and propensities to cheat have thus described the planetary systems and their particular symptoms, measurements and locations. With great deliberation, they have established the truth that the distance between Sumeru and the mountain known as Lokāloka is one fourth of the diameter of the universe — or, in other words, 125,000,000 yojanas [1 billion miles].
